The Nepal Multipurpose Cooperative (NMC) has exported 364,044 kilograms of tea to India, generating revenue of Rs. 114.3 million.
Rabindra Pandey, NMC’s business chief, emphasized the cooperative’s dedication to producing premium tea in collaboration with its farmer members. “We purchase tea leaves from farmers and process them into high-quality tea products,” he explained.
With three tea processing factories located in Suryodaya and Maijogmai of Ilam and Mechinagar of Jhapa, the cooperative works with 350 farmers and has invested over Rs. 130 million in the tea sector.
Under the NMC brand, the cooperative produces Black Tea, Orthodox Tea, and Green Tea, while also creating 52 jobs, boosting local economic growth.
