The Mewa Khola Hydropower Project Advances Toward 50 MW Capacity With United Modi Hydropower’s 30% Investment

United Mewa Khola Hydropower Limited is overseeing the majority, specifically 75 percent, of the construction progress for the Mewa Khola Hydropower Project, with a target capacity of 50 MW.

United Modi Hydropower Limited has contributed 30 percent of the investment, totaling Rs. 67 crores, towards this endeavor. Citizens Bank International Limited is extending financial support for the project, which is situated in Wards No. 3, 4, and 5 of Taplejung District.

The overall project expenditure is projected to reach Rs. 900 crores. Executive Chairman E. Ashish Thapa has indicated that construction commenced in the Poush month of 2078 and is slated for completion by Ashwin 2081, with intentions to link up with the national transmission line.

The company is in the process of preparing for an Initial Public Offering (IPO), with Citizens Capital Limited designated as the sales manager. Furthermore, the project has generated employment opportunities for more than 400 individuals, both directly and indirectly.

The company is in the process of establishing the Mewa Khola Hydroelectric Project (MKHP), a run-of-river project with a capacity of 50 MW, situated in Taplejung district. The project is being developed under the BOOT (Build, Own, Operate, and Transfer) framework.
